But to your point, the whole idea of looking at, say, services, domestic inflation, it's all about looking at the persistence or the ongoing price pressures, which is, as I said, business cost pressures, which the main one is wages.

But there are other ones such as energy, such as insurance.

I mean, the thing is...

I think it's a pretty optimistic view of the world to say that the inflation environment we're seeing now is like nothing we've had in the last 20 or 30 years.

We are in a genuinely

price destabilized world.

And I think the Reserve Bank's got a hell of a problem on their hand.

And that's not just in terms of managing the politics of tighter monetary policy, but also being ahead of any inflation.

Because each time the shock comes through, it comes through with more cost pressure from a higher level almost.

So I think the idea that we're out of the woods on inflation is we're a long way from that.

Well, look, I mean, my view, and it's been my view for some time, is that they are underestimating the level of the interest rate they need to at least keep inflation near the top of their band on average.

And because the reality is, is that they got underlying inflation to just under 3% for one quarter.

But over the last five years, it's averaged well above three.

And

And it's sort of not funny anymore.

It's getting beyond just sort of an economic macro thing to it's having effects on the way people are thinking about politics.

The support for One Nation in this country is something I don't think any of us who've been around in our professional lives for the three decades I have thought could happen.

And in my mind, it is...

purely about just constant deterioration of living standards for a great majority of Australians.

So it is getting sort of a bit of a joke.
