which has made me safe from like all of the kind of like bigger predatorial animals that might be out to get me, right?

So he goes through all of these like at lengths to tell you about this thing that he's done, this home that he's created, the safety that he now feels in this home.

And then basically he tells us that, well, at nighttime he goes outside and he sits outside and he watches the hole and projects

himself inside the hole so that he can enjoy and imagine himself being safe from the predators inside this hole.

And there's something in that.

And then there's also like, there was this George Saunders, there was a podcast on George.

So we were talking about this and you said you heard the same one, right?

So they would talk, there's two like author and the host of this New Yorker podcast talking about George Saunders.

And then one of them said,

that he was asked a question about not having likeable characters in some of his stories.

And then he said, well, there's an additional character that perhaps you haven't thought about, which is that of the author.

And perhaps that's where we might look towards for likeability.

I'm not really interested in likeability, but I was interested in the idea of the author as an additional character.

And one of the things that they all...

said when you were looking at the book, you were like, so you've got like the narrator, right?

As like these hands here, and then you've got the sort of like story, which is the projection

of the, you know, the shadow puppets, right?

The narrator's making these things move and making the story happen.

And I was thinking like, yeah, and also kind of like off screen, you've also got the author who sort of like presides over the text.

And so it's the, I guess there's a triangulation of there somehow that I was kind of interested in.
