But please have some balance in there and please go and look regularly at am I on track at least a little bit to be able to cover those bigger expenses that are coming up without having to panic at the last minute and eventually to be able to make sure that I get to retire when I want to retire before I'm old and
in firm and and actually get to enjoy a wee bit of life.
Sensible place actually for a GP to start is a come and talk to us, come and talk to their nearest Wesleyan specialist financial advisor because they speak to people all the time who have not had time to look at anything money-wise for 10 years plus.
But a little bit of self-help is actually, and we find clients don't do this unless we prompt them because it feels a little bit painful, but it's always worthwhile.
Sit on a weekend night with
Your partner, if you have one, look at what have you got coming in, what have you got going out, what is the difference, what does that tell you?
Because the difference between what you've got coming in and what you've got going out is actually the pot that you've got to play with.
You can spend some of that on unexpected things or additional things each month, but also you should be and could be saving some of that.
And if you're not, it's actually really
Really difficult to do that on an ad hoc basis, you've got to do it kind of like a bill, and that's where it can make a really valuable difference.
So that's where I would start if I was a GP listening and I hadn't done anything for a long, long time, and I didn't feel like I was quite ready to come and talk to a financial advisor.
Go and have a look at your what's coming in, what's going out, look at what that leaves you, and then be really honest with yourself.
Does it feel like I'm left with that every month?
And if the answer is no, it's within your power to do something about it and actually to build yourself something back from the fact that you earn a decent living from the profession that you worked really hard to get into.
It's been really good talking to you again, Wendy.
You're welcome, Emma.
It's been lovely to be here again with you.
Thank you for asking me.
You're quite right.
Most GPs will have heard of McLeod.
