the GPs who do go on and do that with their professional life enjoy it immensely and get what they need out of it. So it does appear to be a long term thing for those who do it and those who take the jump into doing it. It seems that the flexibility of these roles and the professional kind of fulfilment, I guess,
really outweighs the challenges that the roles bring. And that's the whole point, isn't it? So it's nice that, for the most part, the doctors who do go and do this don't regret it. I get the sense as well, you know, people I meet and speak to, I get the sense as well that
What would it be? It would be going back to what I said earlier, Emma, and that is please don't make that decision without considering all the implications, both good and challenging. So take a holistic view of the money side of things. Look at the numbers in close detail. And please don't just focus on income.
The numbers mean more than income. It means tax. It means pensions. It means what are your safety nets out there? What are you looking to do in the future? Is what you're thinking of doing around your career going to support what you want to do in the future?
And once you've done all that and you've decided whether you do or you don't want to take the plunge into having a portfolio career, make sure you review things regularly because life has a habit of throwing things at you, doesn't it? And nobody ever knows what's going to come around the corner. Even your thoughts and your preferences might change. And so it's really important to review all the number side of things, all your financial plan regularly to take that into consideration.

We are really aware that there's an awful lot of change happening in general practice and a lot of uncertainty.
And we thought it was really important to just kind of go out to GPs and sense check how they are feeling, how are they feeling about their career?
How are they feeling about general practice and everyday circumstances?
How are they feeling about new contracts?
How are they feeling about the
ten year plans, lots of unanswered questions for us there.
Yes, I think so.
I think if you go back a generation or two, if you qualified as a GP, you were the family doctor and that was your whole profession throughout your whole career and you maybe spent thirty to forty years doing just that in your local community.
And we find now that GP careers are generally much more varied, they are less linear than that.
Tend to kind of cover all sorts of different branches of medicine and not just general practice.
We think in general, partnership is still a good option for GPs, and lots of them still either aspire to be in a partnership or are in a partnership.
But there's increasingly complex issues around that with finances, and GPs just don't tend to be as equipped to deal with that as you would like to.
think for general business owners and so partnerships tend to be quite complex.
GPs find it it pulls them away from really precious patient time.
So on on the back of that workload.
