Well, one of the most impressive things about Corbett though was how he seemed like he was at home in both of the contrasting worlds that were present in India at the time.

His family was a colonialist family, so he was well trained in the different manners and customs of colonial Britain at the time, but he also spoke spoke fluent Hindi and uh Kumooni, which is like the regional dialect, and he was well loved by the local villagers.

So I think he felt actually like a lot more pride for India than he did for uh Great Britain.

And while he definitely benefited from his privilege as a British resident in India as a colonialist, I do think for the time he was like as well accepted as a white guy could be among locals in India.
