Like, is Dylan Larkin a suitable 1C on a championship caliber team?
You could once upon a time believe that when he was 25, 26 and still had room to grow.
You can't anymore.
And complicating matters here is that the Wings don't have one coming.
Like, they have some solid centers in the pipeline.
Nate Danielson projects as, like, a 3C in the NHL.
And they've got some other guys in the system they feel pretty good about.
But not a single one of them is going to be
a true 1C, or even better than Dylan Larkin.
So that's why it's my opinion that they have to go make an aggressive move to find one this summer.
I think they'd be thrilled, and I think that was a holdup during those trade conversations back in October, November.
It seemed like Quinn Hughes was maybe unwilling to commit to signing the long-term deal here with the Wings, and that's why Steve Eisenman got cold feet.
If that trade conversation comes up again and Hughes expresses interest, again, to me, everyone other than Merritt Sider is on the table.
It sounds like the Canucks were seeking a package around
Simon Edmondson and or Axel Sandin Pelika.
At this point, make the move for a superstar because the Wings don't have really any true needle-moving players, and they need to find them, even if it comes at the expense of some of the young talent on the roster.
Yeah, fired up by the Pistons.
I mean, one seed in the East and the first round for the Pistons starts next Sunday.
So it's been an awesome season for them.
60 win team.
