So in particular, I I read a very compelling article about this being a big part of the gap between GPT-4 and GPT-5, um, is that the the latest model is smarter, but actually knows fewer facts.
than GPT Ford knew.
And the reason for that is that it's actually very hard to tell which facts are mutable, which facts change over time.
And you you don't want to encode into the neurons
who won the Super Bowl because who won the Super Bowl changes every year.
And uh you don't want to encode into the neurons what day is it or uh, you know,
who's the president or who's the King of England or y any of these kind of things because those facts are are things that change.
And so
you want the reasoning capabilities, you want the knowledge uh you want the intelligence rather, and you want the smarts, but you'll find that it looks up the facts.
And when you define facts broadly, like, you know, is this sneaker in stock in my local uh Footlocker?
That's a fact that you don't want encoded in the training data, right?
You w you need to look it up.
That might have changed since half an hour ago.
You want to look that up in real time, whether it's via an API, whether it's via the website, h however that might um that might operate.
And so grounding
wants to be as up to date as possible.
And this is another reason I'm bullish on Google is you look at the evolution of everything Google's done over the last twenty five years has all been about uh freshness, accuracy, relevance.
And that freshness piece is way under discussed, in my opinion.
When we saw all of the query deserves r uh query deserves freshness, I forget when that was, mid 2000s, uh right?
