But I mean, I think, so these parents who are these sort of henge-like thickers.
They're not like statues at all.
They have moths growing on them.

What I liked about that was there's a strange realism to it at the kind of, I suppose, psychological level.
You know, parents aren't, when I think of my own parents, they're not actually dynamic forces and influences.
They're kind of over there and they're like Easter Island statues in one's life.
And that is their influence.
They have a kind of unnegotiable, unnavigable presence.
That's true.
And then, of course, at some point, you know, you grow up and you are a bit disappointed by them.
And Freud says that's the point at which, you know, you begin to get interested in religion because you want a father who's a bit exalted and isn't a disappointment.
Or in my case, not.
I was disappointed but not surprised.
But not surprised.
My point is the book is quite realistic.
At its funniest, it's saying something that's actually quite true about the way we see people and the way it also treats, you know, friendships, the way very close friendships devolve into...
