We asked the Air Force about Austin, and a spokesperson told us they couldn't find any record of him.
Austin says he can't explain why they can't find these records.
In any case, he ended up out in the Pacific Northwest to kind of try and start fresh.
When the protest movement of 2020 erupted, Austin went straight to Seattle to be part of it.
He says he volunteered to be a medic, not security.

I want to ask Austin about that video we see of him at CHOP passing what looks like a gun to James Madison about an hour before the shooting.
Austin says he can't legally own a gun because he has a felony record.
