I'd like to see the guys even play the first half, particularly 9 and 10 play the first half, I should have said.

I'd like to see that.

I know that sounds like some people would say, oh, that's a big risk before New Zealand.

I'd like to see them take the risk.

Give the guys the two starting halfbacks.

Give them a few key guys, maybe Ryan in the row, whoever's calling the lineouts for you.

Maybe give them Cone.

Give them a few guys.

And then maybe take them off at halftime.

Do you know what I mean?

I'd like to see them be...

attacking with the bench at halftime.

You know, go earlier.

Don't give them just like 20 minutes at the end.

Give guys proper 40 minutes, but settle the team into what they produced the week before so they can have a little bit of continuity.

So it's not like a complete mess of guys figuring out how to play with each other for the first time in an Irish jersey against Japan away from home.

does that make any sense and that is a tricky balance to get so I don't know if you guys will agree with that I don't even know if it's possible to do that but that's probably my suggestion is maybe maybe you give 9 and 10 maybe you give them Keenan you know what I mean that's just how I'm thinking about it a bit like I think Joe Schmidt it sounds like a weird thing but harkening back to my own experience

Joe Schmidt was always really great at doing that with young guys he didn't just throw them in like willy nilly he kind of just you know he gave them he threw a few of them in at the same time and he was pretty good with his bench in those games once the team settled in but it gave them a chance to have a good game and build their confidence in an Irish jersey so yeah
