Either no increase in asking rent or even negative, which is where we may be heading in months that are upcoming.
If the economy stays pretty stable, we don't have a big increase in unemployment.
If businesses decide they want to start growing again, that may mean that more renters and young people decide to start households, move out and get their first apartments, move up to bigger, better apartments.
And that sort of demand will prop up rents and will cause rents to perhaps start rising again.
But I don't think anyone foresees a scenario in which rents go back to the double-digit streak.

Rents have come down about 3.5% since the summer, at least according to one measurement.
And that's a reprieve for renters, but it's important to keep in mind just how much rents rose directly before that.
You had rents rising something like 25% in less than two years before we started to see a little bit of a cooling more recently.
They are, and it is also somewhat seasonal.
But there's a lot more going on here right now than just seasonal change.
There's two factors, really.
On the supply side, there's a lot of new apartments coming on the market.
