But what it looks like is that we have civic leaders.
I mean, that's really where I think it needs to start.
Elected representatives at the state and local and federal level.
who lead the people the citizens of america and acknowledging god's divine providence and his sovereignty over the affairs of men and over the affairs of this nation in thanking god for all that he has given us and even leading us in corporate confession and repentance like think of what the king of nineveh did
when Jonah confronted him with the sins and the promise that God was going to destroy the city.
The king of Nineveh, who was not a Christian at that moment, he led his entire city to repent in sackcloth and ashes so that God might spare them.
That's a good example of corporate confession.
I don't see why our leaders can't do that.
So I think it's bringing God back into American life.
And holidays are a great way to do this.
People often call this something like a civic religion.
We could have a civic religion of Christianity.
If you prefer that term instead of Christian nationalism, that's great.
But a key piece of that civic religion is that at key cultural and political and historical times in our nation, our leaders encourage us to lift our eyes to the heavens for where does our help come from?
Our help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
Yeah, so that's essentially what I just said.
Supplication is asking.
So they're going to ask God to bless them, to continue to bless them, to help them be righteous citizens and stewards of the nation that he has given to them.
And humiliation is an act of contrition and humility saying, Lord, we recognize that you're in charge.
I mean, in the most basic terms, this gets down to whether or not you are a theist or a Christian or an atheist.
