Right.
Well, I think that there's some light on the horizon there, though.
So right now, you have to go into this thing called supervised users mode.
You basically create an account, or at least a login on the machine for your child, and then you can set up what they can and can't do.
You can blacklist websites, you can whitelist websites, you can monitor things, you can look at their history.
You've got to do all that, though, manually.
You don't say, my child is eight, and put on all the appropriate controls for an eight-year-old.
You don't do that.
However, Google has a product called Family Link that it's so far rolled out to Android devices, where it does something that simple.
You basically create a real Google account, but for a child under the age of 13.
And you tell Google what the age is.
And, of course, they don't do any ad targeting or anything because you're not allowed to do that for kids.
And you can basically set not only restrictions, but you can also monitor.
You can look in and you can get a report.
You can get alerts, stuff like that.
It's great.
It's terrific, but it only works on Android.
Now, my sense is that this is migrating to Chromebook.
Google won't say anything, but they said they were investigating.
That's what they told me.
