This illness

Brad, just to give you an idea of how contagious this virus is, say you take 20 of those kindergartners we were just talking about, and one of them was sick with measles.

Well, they're likely to infect 18 of their unvaccinated classmates.

And even when that sick child leaves the room,

that virus will linger on surfaces like the desks and toys for up to two hours, even living in the air for up to two hours.

That's why you're seeing all of these outbreaks across the country.

And that's why health officials and doctors are so concerned and urging parents to really make sure their children are protected here with that MMR vaccine.

It comes in two doses to be able to get your first after your first year of life.

And then you get that second shot after your fourth year of life.

And Brad, those two doses, 97% effective at preventing this virus.

There is a little bit of action from the federal level, but we've seen a lot of dispute actually between federal health officials here and state health officials.

As we've talked about, this is now the third death reported in the state.

And in the first two, they were related to infants, and the coroner actually did an investigation, and the question arose as to whether or not measles was the underlying cause of death, right?

But that medical question then entered the political sphere.
