It's kind of tricking your body to in your cells to make a protein that then develops that same antibody.

Now, the benefit here with these mRNA vaccines is that they cut down the time it takes to actually produce the shots.

So typically each year, the composition of the flu shot.

Is decided months in advance.

All these experts get together, they look at the latest data, they look at the southern hemisphere.

That's the you know part of the world that sees flu season before we do, and they decide what strains do we anticipate this next flu season uh to have.

But because it takes months, sometimes that flu strain might not perfectly match what we actually see on the ground.

And we saw that last year, right?

We did see that.

We had a variant called subclade K, and that led to a huge surge in hospitalizations.

And even deaths.

You had nearly 300 children that unfortunately died from flu last year.

You had hospital wards that were really filling up with patients.

And part of the reason for that is the fact that, like you said, the vaccine didn't exactly match that subclade K that we saw at the time.

So the idea here is that with this production sh time shortened, you're going to be able to have vaccines that are made in a quicker timeline and easier to pivot in case a strain does emerge that we need to tackle in the future.

Well, I think many doctors would argue the more options, the better, right?

You have now traditional vaccines that are going to be available this season.

You have an mRNA vaccine that's going to be available.

You also have a nasal spray that's also available for some.

And so when you give consumers more options, they might be more inclined to get that vaccine.
