A uh a beautiful time for a lot of families, and I think good consent looks like.

Um and part of it is about allowing that time to process that information.
Because a lot of things are happening in an appointment.
Um there's a lot of fear, perhaps there's a lot of things

In that moment, it's very difficult to bring up any questions or even to process that information.
But when you take something away, you're able to actually go home, have a read, and really understand it, hopefully with the opportunity to bring up questions at a later stage.
Um, but also we're really looking at
patients who come from different cultures and looking at their cultural needs.
It goes back to that relational piece really.
And if we have a sound understanding of who our patient is, um, it makes it so much easier
uh for the clinician but also it makes it a safer environment for the patient.
Um and Penny talked about cultural competence.
Um and I loved that she she sort of ended that as, you know, well, you're not going to be competent in anybody's culture.
