And I guess I would like, this was the last point where I could talk because once you have the trachea and you can't talk, I didn't want to do it.
I was like, one surgery was enough.
This, I, and I knew what that meant.
Like, that's like going to be in there forever.
And the surgeon, he was actually like,
very calm relaxed and just almost encouraging because he was a veteran of the army or marines and he's like he said i used to do this with a broken pen to my buddies who were just shot like in the middle of the desert like you are going to be just fine like don't worry about it
So I went into surgery for that, and that was another large expense on the medical bill.
But after that point, I couldn't talk.
And my only way of communicating was through a board that...
My mom or someone else would hold up with just the alphabet on it, and they'd run their finger across, and if whatever I needed to say started with an F, I would blink or nod when they got there, and then you'd start over, and you'd have to spell out the whole word.
That was super frustrating.
That was the entire time I was in Milwaukee, so about two months.
I was in the ICU at Milwaukee for six weeks, maybe five weeks, and then three weeks in the rehab wing.
But yeah, going back to that board, I guess one time I spelled out when my mom was trying to do it,
you suck at this.
Cause she's like, without like, she'd stop on the wrong letter and like, couldn't like figure out what I was trying to say, but nobody could be good at that.
Like that, like, did he blink?
Did he not blink?
Like, did he mean to blink right there?
