Waking up in the morning is...
you know still hard most days i still like one of the first things i think about is our painkillers like why did i give those up like that you know that's how i started my day for a really long time and uh just undoing that has been one of my biggest challenges but i think
The final hurdle was finally quitting pot, which was something I was like, I'll be smoking this the rest of my life.
There's no downside to this.
I used to be of that mentality.
I'm not anymore.
I think there are good things about that drug, but there's a lot of bad that comes with it, too, that I think is easy to overlook.
But that was just...
I think a lot of personal stuff for me because I literally use pot to get off of painkillers.
It was like, you know, instead of coming home from class and popping more pills, I would wait 10 minutes, go outside, smoke a joint.
And then maybe pop one pill instead of two.
And then I kind of just blended it all together, which had a psychosomatic effect of helping me get off of it, which maybe it was worth it for that sense.
But going back to my time in the rehab wing, I was still on every sort of drug.
I think that's when they started me on Lexapro.
That I think is one of the drugs I have the biggest problems with more so than even fentanyl.
takes away the highs and the lows but that's kind of the best part of life and it kind of just puts you on cruise control and especially as like a spinal cord patient or someone with a spinal cord injury like everyone thinks of it as like you know it's like a physical effect like you have a physical disability now but
It also has a mental effect, obviously.
It has an emotional effect.
It has a spiritual effect.
Because the hormones that you're producing in your body, the endorphins, they're all produced outside of your blood-brain barrier.
