And if your nerve pathways can't deliver...
those endorphins, those hormones from your body into your brain, you're not receiving the same
reward system that you were prior to the injury or like that anyone else might be like it's just not as effective it's like oxytocin or something like that works that way like i noticed like even even as i went through the rehab and was able to actually do significant significant cardio where i would be exhausted i'm
could never and still can't really achieve that runner's high which i think that's more like endocannabinoids that are produced in your muscle system but like they just don't get to my brain because of my diminished nerve pathways and that was like one of my favorite parts of working out you know like a run to the gym workout run home and then you just collapse in like the state of euphoria and when you don't have that it takes away your motivation to work out
And it also felt a lot more like a job than it did for enjoyment, which made it harder.
And that was one of my bigger regrets was while I was in the rehab wing and then later at RIC Hospital in Chicago for another three months there.
i could have pushed myself a lot harder i don't know how much more it would have gotten me but not being able like working out like not feeling like that reward after like and then also not really knowing where it's like leading to why you're doing it and like how much is this really going to help me like i just want to get home like
Being in a hospital is really just a draining experience.
It's hard to sleep.
It's hard to focus on anything.
It's just hard to be in a good mood.
There's other people around you that maybe they're in better condition, maybe they're in worse.
But either way, you either have survivor's remorse or you wish you were in that person's shoe.
Yeah.
yeah being in that setting was not fun and then the Lexapro on top of that I think it kind of just like made me okay with like being in the state that I was like it took away my serotonin receptors ability to like receive those endorphins and I didn't want to tell my doctors because like I thought like they might give me like like no you need to go back on that drug and kind of just felt like they were peddling drugs over and over again and
mean obviously they all had good intentions but it's just like it felt like something more personal especially with pharmaceuticals like i need to figure out like what works for me and what doesn't and so i was i was at ric in chicago finally late i got there labor day weekend 2010 now obviously like my family was closer
But there was like there were set visitor hours.
You know, I had a strict routine.
Like if I didn't follow that routine, like insurance was going to stop paying for it.
So I got really depressed there, like not having a constant support system from the outside.
