So I was out of the wheelchair, you know, still like hobbling a lot more than I am now.

So I went back to college, would have been the fall of 2011.

So about 14 months post-injury.

Okay.

Yeah.

Not as much, but like small things.

So I still had...

a cane like a brace on my left ankle i found like a physical therapist in west lafayette where i was going to college and would see them like a couple times a week with like try to do stuff on my own but college quickly became like like i said like i like went out to the bars a couple times then i actually got kicked out of a bar for being too drunk even though i wasn't drinking and

but like i had like a collapsible cane and like i would fold it up and put it in a girl's purse or like she would hold it for me like because i didn't need it if like you know i found a seat like inside the bar even if we were just standing around but like you know a bouncer saw me like stumble a little bit like trying to like get into the bar he's like no like you've had too much you can't come in and that really upset me i was like like i tried explaining like i'm not drunk like

like i like tried showing him a scar on my neck like my friends tried advocating for me and then it was like a lost cause so like you know obviously i didn't get in but what surprised me is like most of the people i was with did go in and i'm like okay okay so like

I guess I'm just going to go hang out back at, I was living in the fraternity house, which that probably wasn't the best idea considering all the painkillers I had.

I was still on, I was on Norcos at that time.

But, uh, yeah, it was like, it felt like I almost became like, uh, more, more or less like a prop.

And it's like, Oh, like, let's like Zach's back.

Like, let's get a picture for with them, like post on Facebook.

And I'm like,

okay, see you later.

Like we're going to go out to the bars now.

And that kind of became demoralizing, but like everybody had to move on at some point.

So it was one of those things where, uh, I just like tried to find like an identity off to myself.
