Like, there's like a lot of like little hurdles like that, that I like have tried to explain to people and get people to understand about like the nature of not just like the trauma, but like the recovery process, because like,
that was the most difficult part.
And the trauma, like, like that actual night, like looking back on the, uh, night of the injury, like, like I walked down that, walked down that dock or even like when somebody like invited me to join, like, I didn't give it a second thought.
It was like, I'm like, that sounds like fun.
And then walked down the dock, I handed Jake like my cell phone and wallet.
And, um,
just dove in like I would any other time.
And it's impossible for me to regret that because there was no decision in the moment.
It wasn't like, oh, maybe I should go down the ladder to get in or do a cannonball instead of dive.
It was just something that happened.
And so that was the one piece of solitude I guess I found was there's no regret in that situation.
And it wasn't like somebody pushed me or like, so like, I couldn't really be angry at anyone for that.
But that also was like, I've had a lot of trouble allowing others to, I guess, carry my burden and
I've always been of the mindset like this is mine to carry and mine alone.
I made the decision to jump that night.
I was like, you know, like there's no other reason like for somebody else to like have to carry this with me.
And that also like plays into my problem with relationships.
not just romantic relationships, but friends and family too.
Another one of my coping mechanisms was just isolation.
Like I just don't want to be a burden on anyone.
