So maybe an offer sheet becomes more of a tool that teams can use to to try and poach players at twenty, twenty one, twenty two.

How would the Kings have handled it?
This year the Kings took care of their business early.
They got Brent Clark signed early.
Um, which in that world prevented any team from signing him to an offer sheet because he was signed before July first.
And frankly, getting the business done early probably saved them a lot of money because you look at the Mintikoff deal in Anaheim.
Um, you look at the Nemich deal on Calgary.
Those players got comparable contracts to Clark without Clark's production.
So the Kings probably got a bit of a bargain there by doing their business early.
And you could say probably the same in Anaheim, had they taken care of that situation earlier, which they probably could have, they probably saved themselves an offer sheet and they probably saved themselves a lot of money over the course of those five years.

I wonder if just in general that this is something we might see a little bit more of.
I think it's really cool that that's a tool that teams can use and it adds a lot of intrigue and a lot of spice to the trade and the free agent market.
Um
And it also I think maybe shifts how teams pay players.
In the past, the big contracts are signed at twenty seven, twenty eight, twenty nine because of how the free agent process works.
And you're almost paying players for what they've done, not what you expect them to do.
