Is this a product of, you know, it just didn't really materialize, the running back situation there, because they ultimately went with a true freshman in Bo Jackson.
But he was still giving you over five and a half yards per carry.
I think Peoples didn't have the complete game that goes along at the running back spot.
And the hope is that whomever the next running backs coach is for Penn State, because that's still unknown.
But that's also a point of emphasis here too, is that Matt Campbell and Taylor Mouser and everybody else that is kind of filling in until Penn State officially names a running backs coach, because I'm pretty sure I haven't missed that.
But Peoples, he wasn't necessarily the best blocker.
I would say if I have the biggest criticism of him, it's his ability to be a pass blocker.
But he's got the home run threat.
I mean, this is, if you're worried about, hey, Nicholas Singleton didn't have a great senior season, but you still want that big playability, James Peoples is absolutely at the top when you talk about these three, between Quentin Martin,
and Carson Hanson included.
So Peoples can be used as a pass catcher in addition to Quentin Martin.
You won't ask Peoples to necessarily be the guy that stays in and block.
No, that is going to be Carson Hanson and Quentin Martin.
There is a use here for all three of them.
And there actually is precedent.
Iowa State in 2024, you're probably thinking, okay, well, there's going to be a competition and they'll probably settle in on a two-person running back committee, which is fair to assume and very well could be the case.
But I'm kind of led to believe here, you don't just retain Quentin Martin by accident.
You don't go out of your way into the portal to get somebody like James Peoples.
There's the long-term outlook here because you want, he's got two years of eligibility.
That's important, but you can utilize all three of them.
