The the future is looking quite bleak.

Um this is actually a a subject uh I I previously touched upon in in my recent article on on Gaza in the Middle East and the EU's relationship with this region at Eyes on Europe, but also it's it's the main subject of my master's thesis.

And

Essentially, um it's really hard to align, right, member states on the simple subject, policy subject of for example of energy, right?

Or agriculture, or something as less dividing as foreign policy is already highly controversial.

And so essentially foreign policy and many many scholars have have wrote about this.

This is not new.

Um foreign policy is such a it touches upon one country's own sovereignty.

But really, really the strong idea of sovereignty, even going back to Machiavelli, we can think of that as like the core, the state, and its external relations with others.

And that's it.

The citizens

And human rights come much later, right, in in modern political thought.

Essentially, uh it look it's looking quite bleak because if you look at the EU's institutional mechanisms and how it works with its institutions on foreign policy, it's very abstract actually.

It's very secretive.

We have the EEAS, that's this sort of institution that we don't really know.

anything about and we have obviously civil workers there but like with Kaya Kalas she works as a vice president for the commission and she works as also the primit like the president sort of president of the EEAS and what are the EEAS agents doing were they mostly working on um foreign policy but market more related to economic affairs of the EU and what about

human rights.

Well they also do that normally.

They should be doing that, right?

And this is where it's it's quite dystopian because we have Kaya Kallas or other top EU officials um recently last year, I think it was in two thousand twenty five, visiting Israel during Israel's bombings of Gaza.
