And and that is actually

putting not only in question like of course the hypocritical aspect of rule of law and and you know the selective compliance with international as as uh you mentioned Beatrice but also it it puts um a central question right it's to the existence of the EU as a peace project like Beatrice said but also as a

supranational organization itself, right?

Because it unit unified itself.

If you if you look at the Treaty of Rome, if you look at the treaty of the functioning of the European Union, you have along the lines of every article almost, uh the basis of human rights and common values and common norms.

This is literally the first articles of of the

Treaty of the European Union.

So as an aspiring diplomat, and I worked in Geneva as well, at the UN in Geneva, it's there is this pushback internationally in terms of international law.

There is this um disrespect for international law that now has been sort of normalized, even by our allies.

Uh you mentioned Donald Trump.

Um I believe the EU.

You need to sort of come out of this as a champion for human rights and needs to take this opportunity to rally between its allies under this image of uh rule of law and international law.

But fortunately, um that's not the case and we see that it does take time.

France and other European countries, Western European countries took time before recognising uh Palestine, whilst uh Ireland and Spain and Norway were amongst the first countries, whilst those countries like France or Germany um actually specified that they wanted two state solution.

But they didn't recognise two state until last year, right?

So where is the logic in that?

And so working on these sort of fallacies, argumentative fallacies, working on strengthening international law and compliance with international law, like Beatrice said, we cannot just um uh like be serious about one international criminal court's um w warrant.

And then forgive or forget one other, right?

And and this is where the system is for failing us, and this is where essentially international law becomes redundant.

So yeah, I would I would say the EU needs to be more transparent on that, needs to be more unified, and in its institutional level, it needs to actually have the power to be.
