And I thought, how can we shape this into something with a bit more structure and also find a way to tell stories about people that maybe they're not used to telling?

So I changed that idea of just hanging out and playing tunes to

take five, which is obviously five songs, you know, double meaning where you're like taking some time out of your day, taking a moment, reflecting back.

But the key with it was finding a theme for that person.

So always thinking about who I'm talking to and then curating a theme that I think will, I guess, get them to respond in a way that they haven't before.

So that's where it began.

And, you know, I listened back to some of those early take fives and it's, I'll say this, it's good to hear that I've improved as an interviewer.

It's amazing, isn't it?

When you actually like in media, you are learning in public.

This is one of the things that you have to deal with and it's great, but it's also confronting when you listen back.

Absolutely.

I get it.

Yeah.

But, yeah, just over the years it's kind of gotten deeper and deeper and, you know, I've hopefully gotten better as well.

And then taking that from radio to then making it a TV show was like the best thing ever because for years and years I'd just been looking at people in the studio and seeing their faces react when they heard songs and seeing how much they'd, you know, literally been triggered in the best of ways or in a really emotional way when they heard a song.

And so the idea of sharing that reaction with everyone else, like, oh, this will be a good TV show.

But it took me a while to convince the big bosses to make it a TV show, but we finally got there.

There's a few, actually.

I mean...

There's a lot that have been ones that are totally to do with my own kind of pinch yourself moment.
