I don't have to present the news.

I don't have to interview politicians.

I don't have to interrogate anything really dark.

I'm talking to people about –

the stories of their life and reflecting on sad moments, but also talking about the joy of music and playing music and playing, you know, an hour of music that people want to dance to and let themselves go to.

I mean, it's a pretty amazing job.

So it's not hard to feel that as an outlet for myself as well.

When you're going through something.

I think I, yeah, it was maybe a couple of text messages that came through.

I remember someone, I forget when it was, but I distinctly remember the phrase flirter view.

It's not an interview, it's a flirter view.

And it really rubbed me the wrong way because I heard what I did as just akin to what a male interviewer would do with a male artist, which is just warming them up and making them feel comfortable to have a good conversation.

I like to think it doesn't happen anymore but this was probably in the, you know, I was broadcasting in the 2000s and I think we have come a long way in many ways in broadcasting, in music broadcasting with the way that people are, you know, women are treated as being considered, you know, music experts and music journalists.

There's still a ways to go but, yeah, I just...

I was offended, but also like, oh, come on.

I could see very clearly that it was just a sexist comment and it said more about the person saying it than I did.

But yeah, I mean, it does get under your skin, that sort of stuff.

It just frustrates me that people can't see their own sexism.

Yeah, absolutely.

I think that there's bits where, you know, and particularly when I was younger, if someone said something to me, I'd get inside my head and say, is that true?
