And thank you for listening to this explosive episode of The Daily Oz.
We'll be back later today with the headlines.
But until then, have a great day.
From The Daily Oz, I'm Zara Seidler.
I'm Lucy Tassel.
It's Friday the 17th of July.
Here's what's making headlines this evening.
US President Donald Trump has delivered a televised address where he accused China of interfering in American elections.
Multiple US networks declined to run the speech, which lasted 25 minutes.
It comes after an intelligence assessment found no evidence that China affected the 2020 vote he lost.
and months ahead of the midterms, which will see most seats in Congress up for election.
Trump also used his remarks to again press Republicans in Congress to pass legislation imposing new voter identification and citizenship requirements, despite longstanding findings that voter fraud in US elections is rare.
The bill has stalled in the Senate amid fierce Democratic opposition.
And today's good news.
A new monkey species has been discovered in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
An international team of scientists described the rare and cryptic monkey species as being distinguished by an orange patch around its mouth and lower nose on its otherwise dark face.
Researchers think the monkey was first spotted back in 2008 in a photograph that only included part of its body.
There was no sign of it for another 10 years until a 2018 expedition resulted in a new photo of a monkey with a pale patch around its mouth.
That it will.
We'll be back on Monday with another Deep Dive, but until then, have a great weekend and happy birthday to Lucy, who'll be celebrating her birthday.
