Like for the last six years, I've made my living by like setting up with a typewriter on the street and like writing poems for people and they can pay me whatever they want to.
And I like make a full-time living that way.
And I get hired to do all these sorts of things, but like,
I am a writer who has existed and made money without ever once really like touching the publishing industry, which is like really interesting.
And I'm starting to kind of wade into it now because I'm working on like a real formal novel that I would love to like traditionally publish.
But yeah, it's interesting of just being like, I think that in part when...
like part of the process of like giving myself permission to like claim queerness was also giving myself permission to have a life that was very different from the kind of life that was modeled to me by adults in my life through my childhood.

I came here straight from a first date.
And we were talking about, like, I was like, I feel like it was never, it never even occurred to me, it didn't seem like an option at all to not go to college.
Like, it was so baked into, like, the whole time you're going to school, like, it felt like it's all leading to the purpose of you then going to college.
Yeah.
And I feel like I might be among the last group of people because I graduated before the pandemic.
But I feel like in the world after the pandemic, I feel like it's becoming like maybe less expected again or like there's maybe more because people are waking up to the fact that it's kind of like, it's like not really worth it.
Yeah.
And I'm really grateful to have had my college experience and I do feel like I got a ton out of it.
