But over time, this has got to ease.
I feel like that argument has been won.
No, that these fiscal rules just don't work for the time that we're in.
We need public investment desperately.
I mean, I think we all, I will hold my hands up and say, I thought Keir Starmer would be more progressive in government than he was.
There was some stuff that they started doing and there was always this feeling of they'll start doing some stuff and maybe they'll get more and more progressive in terms of their budgets, right?
So there was the mansion tax, for example, there was the inheritance tax stuff on farms.
You know, there were little sort of green shoots here and there of some progressive redistributive policies.
And there was a feeling that maybe there's sort of, you know, warming the public up to bigger stuff to come.
Andy Burnham's different.
I mean, he is on a soft left ticket.
He's spoken a lot about the importance.
He said trickle down.
Economics doesn't work.
He's spoken about the importance of bringing public utilities under national ownership.
He's spoken a lot about inequality, the need to build more housing.
And he's also looking to do interesting things with devolution, which could possibly include things like devolving tax powers.
So I think his appetite is there.
He has, though, said he is going to stick to the manifesto, which is no raises to income tax, VAT or national insurance.
