We've been lobbying quite some time to lift the Dublin Airport passenger cap.

And thankfully, the government have delivered on their programme for government commitment because it's daft.

No, they haven't delivered yet, but it's in hand and hopefully it happens very urgently.

It's daft that there's an arbitrary cap.

on the main gateway into the country.

So that needs to be lifted.

As I mentioned at the start of this chat, 75% of the Irish tourism economy is dependent on international visitation.

So we have to facilitate that international visitation.

by having an airport such as Dublin that is open for business.

But we have to match the two.

I mean, that's the challenge that I suppose industry has and policymakers have is that, you know, it's a bit of air access.

It's a bit of marketing activity.

It's a bit of construction of the product on the ground to create things to see and do.

It's private sector and public sector.

They all have to work in harmony and sometimes kind of one butts up against the other.

And that's why I think it's beneficial that, you know, as I say, tourism is now in an enterprise portfolio.

We have a well thought through policy on tourism for the next five years.

We've got quite a mature industry.

And I think putting heads together means that tourism can continue to thrive.

And that's good for business, but also crucially good for the exchequer and good for employment around the country.
