Why am I feeling AI fatigue and how does the hype cycle affect marketers?
All right, that's great. So we are in the middle of quite the hype cycle, the AI hype cycle, and um Every day when I open my X feed or my my LinkedIn feeds, you know, God forgive me. I see like new tools that are that make the claim or people make the claim about those new tools that they are disrupting an another industry. You're right. They they c completely shut down another industry. And then you see a GitHub link to something that is vibe coded. Just killed the SEO industry, just killed the website industry. Just kill this industry, that industry. It's an absolute crazy hype cycle. And honestly I'm getting a little bit of AI fatigue sometimes. I don't know uh about you guys. But y it's almost a full time job to
keep up with everything and it's all regurgitated content a lot of the times. Like a lot of people posting about the same stuff. Usually I AI generated tweets and stuff like that about new tools. And at some point you just don't know anymore. What is real, what has mote, what is actually you know, adds value to the world is very, very hot. However, sometimes things pop up where we're like, hmm, okay, that's actually looks interesting. And one of the things that caught our attention, especially yours, uh Daniel, is ploy dot AI. Um I think they just raised quite a significant round of funding. Ploy raises twenty seven million dollars seed to build the first website platform that grows your business. Well If I ever heard a generic statement
a website platform that grows your business, then it's that but who knows, right? Maybe there's something to it because the backstory is quite Interesting. Um What are we looking at here? What is ploy, Daniel? Yeah, so um basically uh just to also give my uh my point of view to this. So I I s I saw this last week uh pop up on Twitter, and then uh shortly after that you you sent this to us. And uh I was like I've only seen like I only cherry-picked the words. I was like, Well, it's Brian Cho from from Webflow, and I'm like super biased. super b Wetflow bias and I'm just a Wetlow stan. So I jumped on a who's So I jumped on a who's Brian. Brian. Who's Brian? Why is he why is he w so so well well respected? Yeah,
so he's basically um the the ex um CTO at Webflow. So he spent 12 plus years there. Uh he's basically the the founder CTO. Um which is which gives me enough credibility to just jump into something because as you said, like we all have AI fatigue. Like everyone comes up with something new and I it's Very rare that I feel like, okay, now this is enough boss for me where I feel like, okay, I should, you know, just check it out. But basically what it does is um It it was also very interesting for me, as I said, limited info. I just see webflow, ex webflow, CTO, Brian Show, blah blah blah. So I I sign up, I create an account, uh, and then out of nothing without even prompting, uh it starts it starts building, like it starts generating something.
I'm like, what is it doing? It this sounds like you're describing the back rooms. Or something, like it starts building and generating something. But in in a nutshell, right? Because I I see these statements. Your website should be working harder than you are, right? Yeah. Ploy is the marketing platform that turns your website into your company's growth engine. So what is the the proposition here?
Who is Bryant Chou and what does the $27 M seed round mean for Ploy?
What are they what do they claim to offer? In a nutshell. I know this is hard for you, Daniel. Yeah. I feel like it's an agentic platform for marketers. I feel like it's an agenc site builder specifically for marketers with with basically built-in analytics and the ease of uh publishing. Like you can get a site up just as easy as in Webflow, but there's like all the customization happens through prompting. And um yes, that that's where I have kind of like the difficulties with it, with like having to prompt so much. And we'll we'll get to that. Yeah. But um what's funny is like so what I just explained before is that that it started generating out of nothing. Yeah, the way it has done it, and I I've never seen this before.
