Uh Gina is traveling, she's she was out of town, but in this caught everyone off guard, uh not by surprise but off w n you never think it's this weekend, this

Um I brought my phone in and I I never bring my phone in studio, but I'd been going back and forth, having some texts with Brian's wife Christy and um also Brian earlier in the week and I just Thought um I wanted to share some of that with you. Um Christy is is a very stoic person, I think. Uh Brian was a very stoic person. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't know if he was stoic or he was just positive all the time. He never seemed that set back by this thing that was uh a death sentence. Right. Right. He had all the good parts of Mike August.

I was thinking about that 'cause I was uh obviously when I heard the news, I started going through our old text and our old emails and about seventy to seventy five percent of our exchanges were I'm not gonna make the show or I'm gonna be late because I have a treatment or something with the doctor or the hospital, he would always come in with the hospital wristbands. And then but then when I thought about it's like I don't remember being that much. of our exchanges. But maybe just because the way he he presented himself and composed himself when he came in, you never thought about it.
Right. We never saw him as a victim of of this brain tumor. He was always incredibly stoic as a victim. Exactly.
And I should say for those who have only been listening to the show for the last year or two or whatever it is, Brian worked with all of us for many years. Um I met him at Love Line, and I'm guessing I was trying to think when I met him. I'm the worst with that kind of dates and stuff like that, but I met him, you know, early 2001, 2002 or something like that. That two thousand.
Yeah, you did the forward of his audiobook. Oh and I sent I di I emailed if you wanna listen to it, we could listen to it another time. Oh, okay. Where you you basically just laid out your your history with him and I thought Oh,
so I met him in two thousand. Yeah. So known him for twenty six years. Um I brought so let me just back uh I I got this from Christy that said he passed peacefully on Friday night at six eighteen. Um Try to keep it together.

here. People I started drop thread and it just kept going. I know. I just said, look, uh you know, we we went back and forth. She realizes that he had so many more years than he was supposed to get. Um When I first talked to Dr. Drew and Dr. Bruce after he diagnosed with his tumor in he the tumors in oh nine, right? Yeah? I think so. I think so because it was right when the radio show was Right. The radio the radio show ended. We started doing this. Yeah. I was gonna get him a job working on this TV show I was working on, and he gave me the news. He couldn't come in and do the thing, the T V show. Uh Drew and and Bruce said six months. He's got six months. I believe
the quote was death sentence. Yeah.
Yes, death sentence and they both said six months. I I verified with both of them, and that was seventeen, eighteen years ago. So we got all that. He's got a beautiful daughter. He he lived a lot of a lot of life. Um he he also experienced a lot of stuff. He traveled, he ate out, he did stuff, you know, he liked doing stuff.
We shared a uh joy in just learning what he did on our days off.
