We might start with the Ben King situation, Cal. I in from your perspective as things sit right now, where is that placed? Do you do you foresee that going through as a free agency move or via a trade?
Yeah, well look, Ben's earned the right to pursue free agency having spent eight years with our football club. Um so the rules permit that. He hasn't at this stage communicated a preferred club for that. Um and in terms of how we decide to to pursue it, I mean it it's it's what we'll we'll do what's in the best interest of the Gold Coast Suns Football Club at the end of the day.
Do you think that is taking the compensation pick as it stands, Cal?
Well we're working through those situ scenarios, Cal. I mean there's obviously y you reserve the right to match um if required. So we're currently looking at both scenarios and and working through the best way forward.

No, we haven't received official communication from Ben on on a preferred destination. Okay.
Um, it it has been uh spoken about that you're after players as potentially part of any banking talks if you do opt to r match the restricted free agency offer and go from there and work it out as a trade. Uh a hawthorn across exactly what they'd be required to give up if it did go down that route.
Well, I think in it's important in this to to remember that there's seventeen clubs that we look at. um in terms of players to bring into a football club. So I know it's it's probably easy to draw a line between Hawthorne and us looking at a potential a deal and and us looking at Hawthorne players, but we're we're looking at all players, um, across all other seventeen clubs rightly. Um So we'll continue to do our work on that. Um and and one of those clubs is Hawthorne. Um, but no one specifically just yet. I I know we've been linked to a few players, but we'll continue to look at at players across all these to try and improve our club.
Could Hawthorn players become available as Gold Coast explores trade opportunities?
A couple of those that you have been linked to, uh Aidan Schubert and Noel Moraz, do they remain possibilities? What's your sense on on those two and their appetite to explore things. They are under contract at the Hawks, but there is gonna be a squeeze we think in terms of the the key forwards and and key defensive roles there.
Yeah, it's a good point you raised, Carol. I mean, you you look at clubs that are bringing players in, um, and and we'll constantly assess clubs that are bringing players in through either free agency or trade, um, because you do get that squeeze for position. So so typically I don't think we're different to any other club. You'll you'll tend to look more closely at clubs bringing players in because there can be that that squeeze and that spill out and that creates opportunity to to maybe target players.
The interesting twist I'd like to ask you about in terms of this one is that there is some time pressure uh on this deal in that the free agency period opens on Friday and it closes next Friday, but the trade period goes another five days beyond that with the deadline through to midweek or the following week. How does that sort of change how you roll through this banking scenario?
Oh, it's a consideration. I mean, the timing's everything right, so th the two periods do overlap and it's something we're we're conscious of because it is a part of the decision making in respect to to either matching Um the free agency lodgment, whichever club that comes from, or um Yeah, or or or not.
Why did Gold Coast end its pursuit of Alex Tauru?
Alex Taru Cal, uh obviously he the the football club had some interest in him at from St Kilda and then toured the facilities and then obviously you've since ended that interest. How did that play out from your perspective?
Yeah, well Alex is a player we I mean, we monitored really closely in his draft you and uh have continued to monitor him.
