There is a new documentary that just came out recently on Netflix called Kidnapped Elizabeth Smart. It came out on January 21st. If you have not had the opportunity to watch it, I think it was great. I watched it yesterday. How many parts? It's one. I believe it's two hours or maybe an hour and a half. It's very good. I believe there's been lots of documentaries about Elizabeth Smart and made-for-TV movies and all the things. I read an interview with her that said... She's now in a happy place in her life. She's married. She has a husband. She has children. She has a very happy, normal life. And I think she feels as if now it is her chance, opportunity, time to tell her story in her own words and not through someone else.
And to also show that even though she went through this horrible, traumatic kidnapping, abduction for nine months, that there is a happy ending at the end. So... First of all, do you... What timing, too, to release it now with this whole Savannah Guthrie's mother being... I know. Because that is getting some serious press. The correlation and just the abduction. And I mean, it's crazy. So in June of 2002, do you remember this case? It was 2002. Oh, yeah. 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart was abducted from her bedroom in Salt Lake City, Utah, sparking one of the most high-profile missing person cases in U.S. history. She was held captive for nine months in remote locations while her kidnappers disguised her identity in public.
I will tell you, her kidnapper and his wife, they were very brazen people. Oh, yeah. I mean, the fact that this man... kidnapped her in the middle of the night with a knife and then paraded her around in public oh yeah in plain sight in plain sight hiding in plain sight i mean going just walking around salt lake city going to libraries just out and about i mean talk about an egotistical brazen joy he probably felt like showing he was showing her off like
