Chris Rawlings is not your average tech startup founder…then again, maybe he is. Chris was raised in an off the grid, solar house in a small town in New Jersey. His father had been given a government grant to test and develop solar power, which meant that there was a constant flow of people to his house to see how the solar thing was going. He also loved mathematics and physics and watched Nova as a child… Chris grew up with a real sense of being different, which actually comes in quite handy later in life. To be truly successful, one has to be comfortable feeling different and doing things that others will not attempt… After graduating with a degree in Engineering and Applied Physics, he was working at his father’s solar business when he essentially life-hacked his way into spinning out and running a successful subsidiary of the parent company. Pretty impressive for someone under 25 years old… Chris was learning that he preferred to figure out how to engineer human organizations rather than simply being an engineer. He wanted to understand the first principles around human motivation and what makes them want to build things and just do things.
