Property investors often talk about using debt to build wealth. In the share market, that's called gearing. With the BetaShares WealthBuilder range, investors can access moderate gearing into shares, and with the newly launched GG-BL, That means exposure to a diversified portfolio of around 1,300 global companies excluding Australia, all with no loan applications, credit checks, or margin calls. Gearing magnifies both gains and losses, so it's only suitable for investors with a very high tolerance for risk. You can learn more about the WealthBuilder range of ETFs at the BetaShares website. And don't forget to read the PDS and TMD to decide if it's right for you. BetaShares Capital Limited is the issuer.

I've heard that paying your home loan weekly instead of monthly can save you interest. Is that actually true? And does it still make a difference if you've got an offset account?
Gemma Mitchell 1:28
Using an offset is saving you interest. You don't physically have to move the money over more often to get the benefit. But where paying weekly helps is if you are paying on a four-week month because there's actually 4.3 weeks in a month.

The other thing that's really important to understand is how does your bank calculate interest charges? What's the quickest way to save $10,000? This year, my co-host Gemma Mitchell and I have been racing to $10,000 of saved money so that then we can spend money on other things that we actually like. This year, Gemma is off to a cracking start and is well ahead of me. And we provide an update in this podcast on why she's winning and how maybe she has done some of these things. But more importantly, I want to take a moment to check in with Gemma's plans for said money. What was she going to spend that money on? And how has that gone for her? Also, in this special episode, we've removed the Get Started Investing book from these two guys, Bryce and Wren, from the Equity Mates media, from our bookshelf behind us, because we got a lot of questions that said...
Owen Rask 2:37
Is this podcast, is this RAS podcast sponsored by EquityMates? We love the guys at EquityMates, but we've replaced it with Kate Campbell's book up there for now. Absolutely love the book. Go and check out Get Started Investing if you're missing it on the RAS podcast in the background. Now you know why. We also have questions on so many different things, including how to manage money if you're in a blended family. That's when you get like two different families come together and you get stepbrothers and stepparents and that sort of stuff. How does the money flow through that family? What's fair? What's reasonable? Someone's put it to us. We'll be answering that and more in this episode of the Australian Finance Podcast.
