Very excited to be getting into this because I think post-budget, it was already happening before, but post-budget, people were saying to me, should I open an SMSF, a self-managed super fund? If you don't know what that is, we'll explain it in a minute, so hold on. And not only that, bubbling away in the background, everyone's wanting to take control of their money, generally speaking.
Yep. exchange traded funds or ETFs, people accessing the share market. You guys are doing an amazing job over at Perla of democratizing access and explaining what long-term investing is. We try to. We're going to cover all that and more because we've got heaps of questions sent in. Stake, Perla, BHS Direct, SMSFs. There's like super fun questions here. REST, I'm sure you could say the same for the Super SA. So many things to get to. So if you're interested in those things, you're in the right place. Mate, I want to start with... how we normally start these weekly Q&A sessions, which is just, what have you been up to? What have you been doing over the past week?
Honestly, I mean, it's been a lot of work. There's always a lot of work. Teach at the uni a bit, mostly spend most of my day on Perla. The last week I've been trying to explore what a leveraged asx product like a nab equity builder type product would look like that's kind of been what's taken up a lot of my time um trying to figure out like what's the product we can sell to get leveraged access to asx etfs and how do we sell it to people buying investment properties how do we sell it to people who might be wanting to use nab equity builder and how do we sell it to people who would be interested in geared etfs very boring technical thing but that has been actually a lot of what my last week has been about
No, that makes a lot of sense. So this is how the sausage is made, I guess, in the financial tech world, the fintech world, is what's the problem that people have? how do we solve that from a tech regulatory perspective and all that other stuff. And then a marketing perspective comes into the end.
Yeah. You kind of have to write your own prospectus in a way, like how do you, a way to think about it. It's like, I have a colleague called Nick who I run the company with and like, how would I, how do I sell him? that it's a good idea. And we might do that vice versa as business partners. So can we make money from it? Can we help our customers? Is there even a market for it? Do people even like it? What's feasible? How do we talk about it? How do we sell people on it?
It would make sense that people like it because Australians love using a bit of debt or gearing or leverage or whatever you want to call it. And the share market has historically performed very well. And with a lot of the changes happening in property, a lot of people are looking over the fence and being like, what else is there?
