Hello and welcome to this episode of the Australian Finance Podcast. We have an extra special episode for you today because it's the first of our mini-series on ETF investing. We're coming at you with five episodes on everything from WTF is an ETF right through to researching ETFs side by side and we'll give you tools to do just that. And we're going to use props and explainers if you're watching and if you're listening, you can just hear us talk through it. And we're going to end up at the final part of this five-part series by saying, okay, we've chosen an ETF. How do we actually go and invest in it? What brokerage account? What tools do we use? How do we actually think about that too? Do we need to do anything at tax time?
Like what are the actual steps? We're going to cover all that and more in the next five episodes. For episode one, we're going to start at the ground floor. What is an ETF? How do I understand them? What do they actually even do? And why would I even think about these things called ETFs? Why do people call them something else entirely? We've got all that in today's episode. So if you're interested, and you want to know how to invest and be good with money, this is a fantastic gateway to going on that journey. One of the things to keep in mind, this episode may be a bit beginner-focused, and if that's the case, great. It's always good for a refresh. But maybe send it to a friend or a family member or a colleague that you think
could do with this kind of understanding at least you know right now at this point of their life doesn't cost them anything to listen to this but it gives them great habits and knowledge for the future and as always i'll be joined by jemma mitchell here in the studio as we go through this five-part series Hi, I'm Owen, the host of the Australian Finance Podcast. Yes, it will. And today is all about Like why are they interesting and what are they? So beginner 101 type stuff. So you are going to play the role more so of host in this and I'll try and answer as concisely as I can. And if I slip up, you can reel me back in and then clarify for everyone.
