I think right now in the world we're suffering from a conscientiousness crisis. We're suffering in a world right now of people who don't care. Too many people, they don't care about other people's feelings. They don't care about doing world-class work. They don't care about the world. I think in many ways it's a little, we live in this culture where it's a little too easy, it's a little too soft, it's a little too selfish, it's a little too distracted. And we've forgotten what it means to be human. I'll start off by sharing a little bit about um А таймінмифу I I was looking for a new direction, and there's two areas. One, I was uh many years ago I was a young litigation lawyer. And I had done everything that the world said I should do in order to be happy and successful.
Robin Sharma 1:42
What does the world say? Get a good education, work hard, make good money, live in a nice place, and you'll be happy. The only problem is I would wake up in the morning. And I would look in the bathroom mirror. And I was completely empty. And so I started a journey and I thought um I would learn to meditate and I learned to fast and I read great books and I read about the great women and men of the world and slowly I started making changes in my life. And I wrote a book called The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. I left my job as a loyer. My parents were not happy. And it led me down this new root that changed my life. And so the lesson I took away is sometimes you have to do something that feel that the world calls crazy, but your heart says is true.
Robin Sharma 2:37
To lead you to the most amazing place. The second thing or time where I'm moving in a new direction, it might surprise you. But it's right now. And please don't think I'm some kind of a guru. I'm up here. And please don't on the guru stage. But please don't think I'm any different from you. That I'm a guru, that I have all the answers, that I wake up every morning with dancing puppies and rainbows and butter and butterflies and light coming up behind me. I'm an ordinary person as well. And so I'm going through a a change right now that I want to share very honestly with you. And for about 30 years I've been on stages, stages, and I've been sp speaking to big audiences around the world. Audiences ten thousand, twenty thousand, thirty thousand people doing media.

creating content on social media. And I'm at a place in my life where I'm rethinking success. And for me, success is no longer being on stages. I'm moving to a part in my life where I want to live a quieter life. And I think the next ten or fifteen years are going to be about me in my farmhouse. with my partner Al and our little dog writing books. Much less travel. I have a new book coming out called The Robot and the Gardener. I'll tell you a little bit about it. It'll be out in a few months. But when I wrote that book, I fell in love with writing again. And I fell in love with a quiet life and a creative life. So even at this stage of the game, I'm taking a brave risk and I'm trying something really new and a new way to live.
Robin Sharma 4:28
