I think it's, it's also, you know, you said, you said something, we were in the pool the other day and you're like, yeah, the first day I was like, Oh, I don't want to, I don't want to. Yeah.
Oh yeah. I saw you at the, so I came over to have like, um, I came over to have a fitting and I was at base camp and you guys were shooting at the house. I wasn't even planning on going to the house. Cause I was like, yeah, I'm not working today. It might be crowded. Sometimes Video Village is crowded or whatever. And I saw you. I saw you on the line for food.

No one else was there. And I was going to say, hey, and then I'm like, you know, who knows? Like maybe they're having a bad day. Maybe it's whatever. I think Leanne might've been with you. I'm like, I didn't know. I was like, that might be his wife. I'm just like, I'm not going to, you know, I'll meet him eventually. And I, so I kind of didn't say anything.
And then you guys went in to eat and then I was going in to eat and I'm like, I'm just going to sit by myself. Like it was, it's like being in like a, you know, junior high cafeteria. I'm just like, I'm going to be a loser in the corner sitting by myself. And I walked by you and I just said, Hey, I'm Matt. I'm playing Randy. And you're like, come on.

And you're like, made me sit down. So I had no, I was, I felt like, I don't want to overstep my bounds. You guys are talking, you know, whatever. And you brought me right in. Then we finished, you know, lunch and you were like, come over to set. And I'm like, well, you're like, oh, come on. Next thing I'm in the SUV with you.
And we go over to the house and I sat and watch you guys work for a couple hours. And it was, it was awesome. That's the way you, you know, You have set a tone of, this feels like summer camp. It feels like family. And you have, I've been on so many sets and the person at the top sets the tone. The fish rots from the head down.
Chapter 8: What lessons have they learned from their experiences in the industry?
Have you ever heard that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And so being on this set, what you're describing has been, it's felt like a family and it's been so fun because you set that tone. I'll give you another move you did. This is a classy move. and your fans should know this, seriously, usually in the hierarchy of a set, it's like, it's your show. We're coming in, we're working for you.
If we're going to exchange numbers, usually we, in our position, have to be like, hey, Bert, it's a weird thing. And day one, you're like, here, let me get your numbers. And you're like, got our numbers. And you texted us. You're like, there, we got the numbers. It was like, you just took that right out of the way. Immediate text change. So immediately you're like, okay, cool.
This is what this is going to be like. Yes. And it bleeds. I think it has bled into the work. It always does.
I care more about... I think when I went to camp, I didn't really enjoy camp per se. The activities in the day were fine, but that going to bed at night when everyone was talking was my favorite fucking part of camp. The best. Even... Like, and it's my favorite thing of a tour bus, but that's my favorite thing about making a TV show. Totally.
Is going into the office for the first two weeks of pre-production, hanging out in between takes and bullshitting. The acting is very fun. But like, one thing about that scene we shot yesterday when I was, you know, when we were outside by the football field. Yeah. And when we started talking about the lightning bolts, that was making me laugh so hard. Yeah. That's my favorite thing.
It's all the same.
I don't know if I, like, I could never be a director because I don't want all that responsibility. Yeah. But I just love the camaraderie.
