How did the podcast transition to mainstream media with TVNZ?

Seamus Marten 0:00
Welcome to the latest episode of Accidental Business Owners. The premise of the show is that two years ago, Seamus and I left our nine to fives to go all in on the Between Two Bears podcast and the other businesses we were building alongside it. That's when we realized we needed some help.
Steven Holloway 0:13
We linked up with Di Foster, who's a business and mindset coach and decided our coaching sessions were worthy of being broadcast and created this show. Each episode is a new coaching session where we work through the raw realities of building our business. In this episode, we're reflecting on the rollout of the biggest month in Between Two Beers history and the journey it took to get here.

Good afternoon, boys.
Seamus Marten 0:57
Hi, Di. Di's just started, just before we started recording this, and she said, I think when you get your beard trimmed, you should leave it a little bit longer on the front. What a thing to say to someone just before we're about to record, because now it's all I'm going to be thinking about.
Di Foster 1:15
It's because it's grey at the front and then it's not grey under there.
Seamus Marten 1:19
He dies underneath there.
Di Foster 1:22
So you can see it's like this double.
Seamus Marten 1:24
I tell you what, there's been a weird energy.
Steven Holloway 1:27
Do you think it's getting greyer?
Di Foster 1:28
Oh my gosh, yes. And it's also because I'm shorter, so I get to see the underside.
Steven Holloway 1:32
I think it's got greyer in the last six hours. Oh, mine's a disaster. I remember the days where I had one grey.
Di Foster 1:39
I remember the days where I didn't have a beard to worry about.
Steven Holloway 1:46
And that's accidental beard owners.
Seamus Marten 1:48
There you go. There's been a difficult energy in the room this morning. I've been fine.
Steven Holloway 1:54
I walked in and it was all shades to the wind.
Di Foster 1:59
We've been going on in my world at the moment.
Steven Holloway 2:02
Yeah, I think there's lots going on in everyone's world. There's a few bits and pieces in ours.
Di Foster 2:06
What's going on in yours, Shay?
Steven Holloway 2:08
Well, we're going to the World Cup very soon.
Di Foster 2:10
Woohoo.
Steven Holloway 2:11
Yeah.
Di Foster 2:11
I remember that being a flippant fly away, just, you know, we should go to the World Cup.
Steven Holloway 2:15
Throw it out there.
Di Foster 2:17
Nick minute.
Steven Holloway 2:18
Yeah, it's been a bit of a dip back into the old managerial logistics days for old Shea. You talk about the grey hairs, I think they're coming back. Jeez, it's an interesting place to try and get to. The old US of A, iVisas and shipping all of our recording equipment in and out of countries.
Di Foster 2:37
Because you'd be going light, wouldn't you? You're not taking too much, are you?
Steven Holloway 2:41
We definitely wouldn't get a custom design set to this. And ship from one country into another too.
Di Foster 2:47
Whose idea was that?
Steven Holloway 2:49
The set or the idea? The set is perfect. We need to make it look good. It's our first foray into visually led content.
Di Foster 2:57
Yeah.
Steven Holloway 2:58
What does that mean, visually led? Well, we've been audio led for the majority of the time. And now you're going to see us on your screens.
Seamus Marten 3:06
I think we should... Roll it back. I think we should tell the story of how this all came to be because there's a few interesting pieces to it. Manifesting genius. That's what you call them, isn't it? Well, it was the start of the year, right? And we said we wanted to go to the World Cup. We put it on our list of goals and then we had to figure out... You put it on your list of I'm going to take my boys to the World Cup. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was. I don't think it was on my list. Wasn't it on your list?
Steven Holloway 3:29
I don't think so.
Seamus Marten 3:30
No.
Steven Holloway 3:30
I've been to a World Cup. I've done that. So been there.
Seamus Marten 3:34
Yawn.
Steven Holloway 3:35
Next question.
Seamus Marten 3:36
No, nothing will top 2006.
Di Foster 3:37
It's all about you catching up.
Seamus Marten 3:39
All right, 2006. So we had an idea that we would do a football show, like a daily football show following the All Whites at the World Cup. But our problem was our audience, though we started as a football show, our audience is not a football audience anymore. So if we were to release a daily football show on the Between Two Beers channel, we would piss off and alienate and upset a lot of our listeners who are there for what we have.
