had a six million dollar failure last year. We're gonna have bigger ones as we go. To this, we've got shareholders, investors I've reached out to us regularly, and the answer is always no. Or why L Duncan would say this about a Netflix sports broadcast.

Sometimes we're gonna take really big swings and we're gonna freaking whiff.

News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now I'm Doug Krisner, and we begin with the war in Iran. Earlier today, President Trump lashed out against Tehran's demands for war compensation as part of talks to wind down the conflict. Speaking in the Oval Office, Trump proclaimed the U.S. now controls the Strait of Formuz.
Unknown 1:18
The only one that has control of the Strait of Hamoose right now is the United States Navy. We have a blockade that's been infallible. It's a steel wall. And we let people in that we want to let in and those people come in and They've been coming in and they're going out, so it's actually open now.
Doug Krisner 1:35
Now Trump also signaled he's prepared to allow economic pressure on Iran to build rather than launch fresh military strikes to force a reopening of the strait. Speaking to the news site Axios over the weekend, Trump pointed to financial woes for Iran linked to the U.S. naval blockade. Meantime, Tehran's demand for a full reopening include the U.S. lifting its naval blockade on Iranian ports as well as the Release of frozen assets and that compensation for war damage. Crude oil surged today with WTI jumping by more than five percent to just above eighty-two dollars, and that rally sparked worries over inflation just days ahead of key price readings. On Wednesday, the government will report on July consumer prices.

But I do think that the geopolitical overlay is important to the extent that you have a Fed that's starting to lose its patience a little bit in terms of how long we're willing to let one time drivers of higher prices continue to just ladder onto each other. And at some point you have to say, Gosh, we really need to get more price stability. It is really damaging the consumer's ability to pay for things.
Doug Krisner 2:48
That is Julie Beal of Kane Anderson Rudnik speaking earlier to Bloomberg. The equity market wavered today and bond yields moved higher. A group of six US investment firms will partner with NVIDIA on AI projects and they will bring with them a total funding package of five hundred billion dollars. We are told Apollo Global Management, along with Blackstone and BlackRock, will fund projects for AI compute and Brookfield Asset Management, together with Goldman Sachs and KKR, will be funding AI infrastructure, Glenberg's Emily Grafeo.
Unknown 3:21
I think it was two weeks ago my colleagues and I reported that Blackstone had floated another deal that was gonna be thirty-six billion dollars of private credit to build arguably a little bit more than one gigawatt, but they said they're already gonna build twenty. So there's gonna be like hundreds that needs to be raised. Will it all be in credit? Likely no. We've seen a lot of these, um companies also kind of raise equity as well.
Doug Krisner 3:46
That is Bloomberg's Emily Grafeo. Now, NVIDIA has already inked hundreds of billions of dollars worth of deals with companies across the AI ecosystem, and that has led investors to be a little concerned that the chipmaking giant is inflating both demand and valuations. Bloomberg has learned that Anthropic has struck a $9.1 billion deal with Riot Platforms, a Bitcoin mining company that recently began.
