News when you want it. With Bloomberg News Now, I'm Ed Kalecki. SpaceX launched its biggest, most powerful starship yet on a test flight Friday, an upgraded version that NASA is counting on to land astronauts on the moon. It blasted off in the southern tip of Texas, carrying 20 Mach Starlink satellites for release halfway around the world. It's the 12th test flight of the rocket that Musk is building in hopes of getting people to Mars one day. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, whose anti-war view spurred tension with the White House, says she is resigning from the post to help her husband confront a bone cancer diagnosis. Gabbard notified President Trump during an Oval Office meeting of her decision.
Her last day is expected to be June 30th. She said this in a resignation letter that she posted to social media. Gabbard, a longtime skeptic of American involvement in overseas wars, said, had seemed increasingly out of step with the White House as Trump launched two military campaigns against Iran and ordered a raid to capture Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro. President Trump stressed that he wants Kevin Warsh to independently lead the Federal Reserve as he looked to downplay investor concerns that he would pressure the new central bank chief on policy decisions.

Warshaw has promised the biggest shakeup in decades at the U.S. Central Bank, was sworn into office Friday in a White House ceremony as the 17th chair of the Fed.

Investors now see an interest rate increase coming by December after fresh data Friday showed consumer expectations for longer-term inflation jumped to their highest level in seven months. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that slight progress was made during talks with Iran as Pakistan's army chief traveled to Tehran in a renewed effort to mediate a peace deal and uncertainty loomed over whether war will resume. There's been some progress.
I wouldn't exaggerate it. I wouldn't diminish it. There's more work to be done, but look, yeah, there's been some, you know, and that's a good sign. I'm glad they said that. We're not there yet.
Rubio spoke days after President Trump said he was holding off on a military strike against the Islamic Republic because serious negotiations were underway. Trump has been threatening for weeks that the ceasefire reached in mid-April could end if Iran does not make a deal with shifting parameters for striking such an agreement. The Secretary of State made the comment ahead of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden, where the military alliance discussed what role it could play in helping police the Strait of Hormuz once the war is over.
