How did SpaceX’s Starship reach orbit and deploy Starlink satellites?
SpaceX's massive Starship rocket reached orbit for the first time this morning, achieving a milestone for the program. Bloomberg's Ed Ludlow tells us it was not all smooth sailing.
On the way up, after separating from the booster, the six Raptor engines at the base of the spacecraft, one of them cut out early, which led to some debate on the SpaceX team whether they would attempt to go to that orbital altitude. In the end, they decided that it was possible. And so over the next nine hours, Starship will go around the Earth, orbit the Earth about six times. They will then have to deorbit. And with the hope and goal of Starship the spacecraft splashing down west of Chile, South America.
And that's Bloomberg's Ed Ludlow. The rocket was carrying 26 of the company's upgraded Starlink satellites, which the vehicle successfully deployed in orbit to join the existing Internet from Space Network. SpaceX now says it's bringing Starship home earlier than planned.

So you had this deal that the Iranians put forward. The president, the US president, refused it. So this is a kind of talks continuing to find a way through that. But we've been here many times before. And so far, both sides, both in the proposal that the Iranians put forward in the first place and in Donald Trump's refusal, both sides showed no real willingness to compromise. Even those things are kind of shifting in Australia to poor moods. But we'll have to wait and see, basically.
