News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Nathan Hager. Two to three weeks, that's when President Donald Trump says he could see the war with Iran ending. In Oval Office remarks heard on Bloomberg Radio, the president said the U.S. has largely achieved its military goals and it's possible Tehran still reaches a deal.
It's a new regime. They are much more accessible. They are right. You know, they said, we have a present for you, Mr. President, out of respect.
President Trump says the U.S. will leave when Iran can no longer obtain a nuclear weapon. At the same time, Bloomberg's Jumana Bersetchi reports a third U.S. carrier group, the USS George W. Bush, is on its way to the Middle East.
That will take another two to three weeks to arrive, which is... Coincidentally, the timeframe that President Trump has given to end the military operations. So we'll see whether that two to three window, two to three week window is something that President Trump is going to commit to or just, you know, a signal to market to calm nerves while they build up even more. more military assets in the region in that time frame.
Bloomberg's Jumana Bersetchi reporting from Dubai, where Iran targeted the UAE overnight with more cruise missiles. It also struck an oil tanker in Qatar and launched attacks on Israel, Bahrain and Kuwait. President Trump's frustration with Europe spilled over in an interview this morning with the U.K. 's Telegraph newspaper. He says he is strongly considering withdrawing the U.S. from NATO for failing to join the war. He says the idea is, quote, beyond reconsideration, end quote. Bloomberg's Lauren Dozenski says it would require an act of Congress.
Of course, the American system of checks and balances does have to come into play here. But that doesn't stop the president from throwing things out there. And it certainly also doesn't stop allies from reassessing how they see working with the U.S. Both President Trump and his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, criticized allies for not letting the U.S. use their bases.
