Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hello, I'm Stephen Carroll. I'm in Brussels, where many of Europe's biggest decisions get made. And I'm Caroline Hepke in London. We're the hosts of the Bloomberg Daybreak Europe podcast. We're up early every weekday, keeping an eye on what's happening across Europe and around the world.
We do it early so the news is fresh, not recycled, and so you know what actually matters as the day gets going. From Brussels, I'm following the politics, policy and the people shaping the European Union right now.
And from London, I'm looking at what all that means for markets, money and the wider economy.
We've got reporters across Europe and around the globe feeding in as stories break. So whether it's geopolitics, energy, tech or markets, you're hearing it while it happens. It's smart, calm and to the point. And it fits into your morning.
You can find new episodes of the Bloomberg Daybreak Europe podcast by 7am in Dublin or 8am in Brussels, Berlin and Paris on Apple, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Monica Ricks. The U.S. is still waiting on a response from Iran to its latest proposal to end the war. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says he expected to hear back last night.
We're expecting a response from them. We'll see what the response entails. The hope is it's something that it can put us into a serious process of negotiation.
But Bloomberg's Jeff Mason tells us they're still waiting.
As of last night, the president at least wasn't ready to tell us that a response had come in. I hung around the White House for his return from his live golf dinner, and he came back around 10 o'clock-ish. And we shouted questions at him then as well. Did you get a response? Did you get a response? And he didn't respond to those questions and just walked by.

Chapter 2: What is the latest update on the U.S. response to Iran?
as well as critical U.S. infrastructure. The directive, though, would stop short of requiring government approval for cutting-edge models, which is still subject to change. Ed Kalecki, Bloomberg Radio.
ABC is now firing back at the FCC, denouncing the government's efforts to chill critical protected speech and shape media content. We get that story from Bloomberg's Amy Morris in Washington.
ABC outlined its position in a lengthy FCC filing responding specifically to the FCC's review of its daytime talk show, The View, calling it unprecedented, making it clear the FCC's actions will affect the media landscape more broadly.
ABC says the government should neither suppress nor compel speech in support of any political viewpoint and that telling a private publisher how to exercise their editorial discretion is not up to the government. In Washington, Amy Morris, Bloomberg Radio.
And Democratic attorneys general in two dozen states are now fighting a new Trump administration proposal that could allow guns to be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service. Frank Albergo is president of the National Postal Police Union. He opposes it, too.
There's no reason to think that these parcels will be stolen. I mean, you know. Mail theft right now is out of control and something needs to be done.
Congress barred the mailing of firearms as part of an effort to curb crime back in the 1920s. And that's news when you want it with Bloomberg News Now. I'm Monica Ricks and this is Bloomberg.
I'm Francine Lacroix, an award-winning journalist, and I've got a new podcast, Leaders with Francine Lacroix from Bloomberg Podcasts. I've interviewed everyone from heads of state to fashion icons about the news of the moment. But I've always been curious, who are these people as leaders? I don't think there's one right way to be a leader.
Make decisions. A poor decision is always better than no decision.
