Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House envoy Steve Witkoff met Saturday in Miami with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as part of the efforts to reach a deal to end the war in Iran. This according to two sources with knowledge. The U.S. and Iran are negotiating over a one-page memo to end the war and establish a framework for more detailed negotiations. President Trump is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing this week after postponing their summit due to the war in Iran. Former U.S. Ambassador to China Nick Burns weighs in on the talks.
For both governments, for both leaders, this is the most important relationship they have, the U.S.-China relationship. And they have ambitions. for this year. They want to meet Xi Jinping, Donald Trump, two to three, even four times this year. And there's a lot to talk about. I think we'll see a big focus on trade, supply chain, and the commercial relationship. Former U.S.

Peter Magyar has been sworn in as Hungary's new prime minister nearly a month after his landslide election win, ending Viktor Orbán's 16-year rule. Minutes after taking that oath, Magyar called on the president to quit for not speaking up against Orbán's regime. including its failure to investigate abuse and attacks against journalists and civil society. Magyar has vowed to tackle corruption and unlock frozen European Union funds to boost Hungary's economy. His government's expected to be installed early next week. Monica Ricks. Bloomberg Radio.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the U.S. is imposing sanctions on 11 entities and three individuals based in Iran, China, Belarus, and the United Arab Emirates for their involvement in Iran's efforts to acquire or use arms and related material. Rubio said that included in the actions are several China-based entities providing satellite imagery to enable Iran's military strikes against U.S. forces in the Middle East. U.S. allies in Europe anticipate that President Trump will withdraw more forces from the continent after he announced he would pull 5,000 troops out of Germany. Top diplomats from NATO allies forecast that Trump will announce more drawdowns, possibly including from Italy, and scrap a plan dating back to Joe Biden's presidency to station long-range missiles in Germany.
