What was the outcome of the Blue Jays’ win over the Guardians and the key issues in the bullpen?
Good morning, happy NBA draft day.
Good morning, happy NBA draft day.
Blue Jays also won.
Happy Max Scherzer Day to you.
Happy Mad Max Day. Yeah, let's go. What a day it is. It's uh also to to bridge the gap between our show and the Jays game and the draft tonight, uh Jacob Mizerewski against Paul Skeens at two in the afternoon.
Yep, it's uh it's a full day and there's a lot going on. And I have to say, just right off the top, it it needs to be said, you are a hero. The amount of stuff that you are doing today across two sports, Blake Murphy, it's really impressive and it deserves to be recognized. So thank you for your hard work.
Let's see if the show goes better than yesterday's for me before we uh before you pat me on the back. But yes, as a programming note, uh so the Jays game is at six forty tonight. It will air as usual. Blair and Barker will do Jay's Talk postgame. And once that concludes, I will do the Raptor show uh breaking down. I think that'll be like mid draft still at that point. But if the Raptors keep the number nine pick, we will be breaking that down and kind of kicking around everything else that happens. In the first tonight's the first round of the draft. Tomorrow is the second round of the draft. Uh you will be without me tomorrow. Show Ali will be here. Um, not because I don't want to be here and not because I won't have an eye on Mad Max, uh, but
Uh I will be focused on the draft since I'm doing a live draft show.
Also, you you deserve a a bit of a break as you're
it's not even really though, because the draft is tomorrow too. Like I'm still gonna be working. I just I won't get a chance to watch the Jays game in full. Yeah. So me doing a I would have to pretend tomorrow on the show. Yeah, I've been doing
it for like four years now.
That's not true. Uh so that's a programming note. Quick standing. So the Blue Jays won yesterday and the uh the Yankees lost. The Mets lost. Only one good thing happened in New York, and it had nothing to do with baseball. Uh so that's uh that's a a small positive for a bit pretty big positive for the city, but not for the city's sports teams. The Blue Jays gap in the AL East is now down to two and a half games. And of course, notable that they beat the Cleveland Guardians, who are currently in the last spot out of a wild card. So the Jays now have a two and a half game cushion on that as well. This is obviously a fairly big series in a fairly big ten days. And it got off to A good start with a ten to six victory.
It was not the least uh stressful ten six victory yep that you could possibly imagine. Um before we get into the specifics of that, also not the least stressful bark at the park day.
Ugh those
dogs looked very warm.
Yeah, they looked so stressed. That really did break my heart. And it was funny because I was watching the game at my friend's place and she is a dog trainer. That is if she works at the Humane Society, that's kinda what she does. And I'm like, Okay, am I reading the body language wrong here? What's going on? She's like, No, these dogs are extremely stressed. Guys, park at the park is fun, but if it's a humid day, if it's a an overly hot day, I I would say that That even the team should probably say, you know what, we're going to postpone this. It's not healthy, it's not safe, uh uh for the for the little creatures. But there they were. I mean, obviously they they survived, right? It's not a it's not that big of a deal, but
Yeah, my heart my heart broke for those little fellows.
It's a tough one.
It's a tough one. My heart broke for you too, because you were also without without power, without AC, without any any of those things yesterday.
Um from a couple of botches on my part last week, uh yeah, I was in that big city power outage. So I had no power from like six o'clock until sometime in the middle of the night, which was uh Luckily we live in a technological era where uh well I guess I could have always just like turned the game on the radio, but you can't see I like listening to games on the radio. Yeah. Um I like our radio broadcast crew, but for the purposes of doing this show, I like the visual like I I to be able to break stuff down, I want the visual a little bit more.
