There's just a lot more questions and a lot more interesting Jets offseason discussion that will be going on because there's just so many holes to fill, including the fact that we have zero idea as we sit here right now towards the end of February who the Jets quarterback is going to be. Yeah, and those are discussions that are being had right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they do draft the quarterback somewhere in the second or third round. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. But that person's not going to be the answer for the Jets at the start of the year. It's going to be... two veteran quarterbacks of some sort. Who those veteran quarterbacks are, I couldn't tell you. You know, I can only tell you that I know what Frank likes in a quarterback, whether Darren Muji sees that same type of player or, you know, Aaron Glenn wants that same type of player.
I'm assuming that they're all going to be collaborating on as to who they think the two guys are that are going to be their stopgap quarterbacks, unless, of course, there's some crazy trade that happens with the Raiders and they get Fernando Mendoza, which I think is unlikely. Yeah, of course. I mean, I think it's almost impossible at this point. I mean, we know that Clint Kubiak and Tom Brady are fond of him. Mark Davis essentially said it when he was asked about it in the press conference introducing Clint Kubiak about how much he really liked Fernando Mendoza. So, yeah, I mean, I think this is one of those years where they're caught in between again. And just know this, that you're going to hear some negativity about Fernando Mendoza.
This is the time of year now. where you're going to hear it. You're going to hear either slow release or he doesn't process fast enough. You can hear all the... The catchphrases, the scouting catchphrases that will be handed down. There will be some people that will try to minimize him, which would be really unfortunate. I think he's a can't-miss number one pick for the Raiders, given who he is, who the new Raider coach is. It's the perfect marriage between quarterback and system, I believe. And I do think that both Tom Brady and I would think that Mark Davis and Clint Kubiak are going to want that kid for their quarterback. Yeah, if I'm the Jets, I put out an AI photo of Fernando Mendoza smoking crack and hope that the Raiders buy it.
And then he drops to number two. Right? I mean, remember the Larry Tunsell thing? That was a thing. But he actually did have the gas mask of weed on. But, yeah, I mean, there's just nothing that's going to knock him down to number two, unfortunately. But the Jets will be caught in between, which is going to be tough because this is a season that Aaron Glenn has to win. The defense has to be good. I mean, in win meaning like six wins, seven wins. Not go to the playoffs, but certainly not three or four wins. You can't have that again. And then also you're going to want to be in a position where you can go up and get a quarterback next year in the draft, which I think, at least with the draft capital that Darren Moochie's been able to put together, even if they end up like 10 or 11 in the draft, they could be able to trade up with a team that doesn't need a quarterback to get that franchise guy next year.
